Hello hello guys!

How is everyone today? I am definitely glad to see the end of the week! We all need to rest sometimes. The next few weeks should be great because we have like 4 public holidays in Nigeria over the next couple of weeks, which I am very happy about! I can’t say the same for employers but, as an employee, I’m excited!

Now if you know the smallest thing about skincare, you’ve probably heard about hyaluronic acid. It is like the darling of the skincare community and for great reason! So what is hyaluronic acid? According to Paula’s Choice, it is “a naturally-occurring substance in skin known for its stunning capacity to attract and hold onto 1000x its weight in moisture…hyaluronic acid works to keep every aspect of skin stable, safeguarded and constantly renewed”. Hyaluronic acid is essentially one of the cheat codes to youthful, supple, hydrated and nourished skin. And it doesn’t matter if you have dry skin, oily skin or everything in between, hyaluronic acid is one of those rare products that works for pretty much every skin type. Honestly, in my opinion, everyone should be using the stuff.

Hyaluronic acid is a powerhouse when it comes to hydration. As we get older, the moisture in our skin drops drastically and that causes a loss in elasticity. That goes on to cause wrinkles, sagging skin, sunken features and other signs of aging. By replenishing that moisture with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, you counteract that issue. The hyaluronic acid helps to prevent water loss from the skin so, as well as adding that extra moisture, it helps you hold on to the moisture you do have. The fact that it is a humectant is also another great quality as it draws extra moisture into the skin from the atmosphere. I think that’s why my skin flourishes particularly when it’s humid – all that extra moisture being drawn into my skin is like a spa treatment for my skin.

For a girl with dry skin, this is pretty much the best ingredient in the world. I actually see a clear difference in my skin when I use it regularly. It is also extremely gentle – don’t let the word ‘acid’ freak you out. If you’re starting out on your skincare journey and you don’t know where to start, adding some hyaluronic acid into your routine is a good place to start (of course, do a ton of research before slathering anything on your face). Andddd now that hyaluronic acid is so popular, it is so easy to find products that contain the stuff. Hyaluronic acid is now included in so many products from serums to moisturisers to masks and even all the way to foundation and concealer.

Below are some products that contain hyaluronic acid that you can try out (there are some I’ve tried and others I’m yet to try):

There we go guys! Do you guys have any other hyaluronic acid products you love? Share below!
